A good antenna is a guarantee of success. You can have excellent coverage, the perfect IoT module, but if you don't have a good antenna, your project is at risk. And thus, do not risk and choose from the most widely used 2J connector antennas.
There are many antenna types available on the market, but probably the most used ones are connector mounted antennas. 2J manufactures several types of connector mounted antennas. Their biggest advantages are the simplicity of use, low losses due to direct mounting near the RF signal source and also the mechanical design since the connector also serves as an antenna holder. Well known SMA connector is most commonly used for these antennas.
Connector mounted antennas from 2J cover wide range of frequencies starting at:
- 87MHz (FM) through 169MHz (ERMES),
- 380-500MHz (TETRA), 433MHz (ISM/TETRA/LoRa),
- 800-850MHz (AMPS/NB IoT), 900M Hz (GSM),
- 1800MHz (DCS), 1900MHz (PCS), 2,1GHz (UMTS), 2,4GHz (Bluetooth/WiFi), 1700-2700MHz (4G/LTE)
- up to 5-5,9GHz (WiFi/5G).
2J connector mounted antennas overview:
The 2J010/2J020 antenna is probably the most popular pair of straight/right angle connector mount antenna for GSM band ever. This tiny 55mm long antenna covers frequency range from 850MHz up to 2,4GHz, with max gain of 2.2dBi and uses standard SMA male gold plated connector.
The newer version of 2J010/2J020 is marked as 2J0B04 and has improved parameters and better design matching modern trends. The 2J0B04-C884G/2J0B04-C885G pair with right-angled/straight SMA connector type was designed for AMPS/NB IoT (850 MHz), GSM (900 MHz), DCS (1800 MHz), PCS (1900 MHz) and UMTS (2100 MHz) bands. This antenna is only 44mm long, has very low VSWR down to 2.2:1 and can handle up to 25W output power.
The 2JW0124 is very flexible antenna covering frequency bands of 4G/LTE (699-960/1710-2690MHz), GPS/GALILEO (1575MHz) and also GLONASS (1592-1610MHz). The length of this antenna is 196mm, max width is 38mm. The SMA connector ensuring low losses and good mechanical attachment of the antenna is used here.
The 2JW031-868 was designed for the use with smart meters. This antenna could be mounted as right angle but also in a straight position, which is very useful feature. This antenna covers frequency bands of Sigfox/LoRa/ISM bands at 868MHz, has an excellent VSWR down to 1.5:1 and max gain 2dBi.
The last one in this short overview is really unique GPS antenna with embedded LNA, the 2J0801. This antenna is capable to receive and amplify signals from GPS, GALILEO and GLONASS satellites, has excellent VSWR number of 1.2:1 and achieves a max gain of 25dB at 5V power supply voltage. Maximum current consumption of 2J0801 is 15-25mAmps.
